Engage with STAR Confinement through referral and get Esther Lien for my newborn for 1 month confinement. Esther was extremely comfortable with handling newborn and we can really have good rest and my wife focus on getting well for her confinement. She is knowledgable and shared a lot of baby information with us what to do in different situation. The food that Esther cooked was really good and my family enjoy it a lot. Eventually we extend her for another 1 month, thanks to flexibility from the agency. This would be our second time using STAR for our confinement. Our overall experience with ST301 Rolin was below average. Rolin is quite traditional in some of her confinement practices, but she was also willing to adjust along the way to fit our family's routine and preferences. One thing we really appreciated was how accommodating she was with food. My wife exclusively breastfeeds our baby, and was latching around the clock, so one of the areas where she needed the most support was during the night. Ideally, she needed baby brought to her for feeds and taken back afterwards so that she could maximise her rest while recovering from her C-section. For most nights, Rolin was able to help with this, which we appreciated. There were, however, a few nights when she fell asleep and was not able to receive our baby after a feed. This was challenging for her as she was still recovering and getting in and out of bed while carrying our baby without assistance was quite difficult. Rolin also had difficulties putting our baby to sleep. She kept insisting that our baby was hungry and most of the time chose to wake my wife up for a feed every hour to an hour and a half even though she needs to rest after a major operation. I do understand that feeds are generally on demand, but on multiple occasions Rolin insist that our baby was hungry, could not sleep and was going to wake my wife up for a feed. I, a husband and father with practically much lesser experience than a seasoned confinement nanny, took over our baby from Rolin and our baby fell asleep in my arms within 5 minutes. This made me question the competency of Rolin multiple times throughout her tenure with us. We do have a helper at home who does all the house chores, so that ST301 Rolin could focus fully on baby and my wife - but there are still some gaps and shortfalls throughout our experience. We then requested for a change of nanny as this is obviously not working out. Overall, I think Rolin may be better suited to a family whose expectations and routine are a good match for her working style. While there were some areas that did not quite work for what we personally needed during my wife’s recovery, we appreciated the care she gave our family during the time she was with us and wish her all the best.Posted on GoogleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are really lucky to have Tan Lay Chin (ST370) as our nanny! Can tell she’s someone who genuinely loves babies. She’s experienced and very dedicated, and took very good care of our baby. Our baby has eczema and tends to vomit after feeds. She paid close attention to her conditions and is able to give us good advice on how to care for her sensitive skin. She also has high standards of hygiene for my baby. With her around, I know that my baby is in good hands and that allows me to have a peace of mind while I rest. Also like her positive and cheerful personality. Because of that, she’s always able to handle my baby’s fussiness and cries. I would wholeheartedly recommend Auntie Ann (ST 232) to both FTMs and STMs! From the moment she arrived, Auntie Ann gave us a great impression, she immediately asked to wash up before handling baby, reviewed our baby log, and took the time to understand my expectations and where I needed the most support. As a C-section mum exclusively breastfeeding, I was exhausted, and she made it a priority for me to rest and recover. On her very first night, I managed my longest stretch of sleep since coming home! She was excellent at soothing and settling baby between feeds, bringing baby to me when it was time to latch and taking over again afterwards. Auntie Ann has a wealth of knowledge in newborn and postpartum care, but what I appreciated most was how adaptable and open-minded she was. She explained the reasoning behind traditional practices while also respecting modern practices and our doctor's advice. When baby had prolonged jaundice, she proactively adjusted my red date tea, herbal soups and meals accordingly. She was also incredibly patient in teaching our new helper to cook, grocery shop and choose ingredients, and was always cheerful, proactive and respectful of our preferences and boundaries. She is more proficient in Mandarin but speaks basic English and made the effort to communicate with everyone in our household. Experienced without being rigid, proactive without overstepping, and genuinely caring towards both mummy and baby.
